What is a doula?
Doula is a Greek word meaning servant (for women) I am trained to emotionally and physically support and care for women during pregnancy, during labor/delivery, and through postnatal period
What do all those letters mean?

RMA: I am a registered Medical Assistant that worked in Urgent Care for 15 years as back office manager, I am CPR adult and infant certified and Neonatal Resuscitation Certified.

CED: Certified Epidural Doula, I am trained to use modalities like the peanut balls that allow for position changing during labor with an epidural to help momma to progress and shorten labor times while allowing her to participate fully in her birth.
CPD: Certified Postpartum Doula, a postpartum doula helps momma be the best momma she can be. First and foremost help momma sleep, believed to be the the #1 cause of postpartum depression. help identify and get help for postpartum anxiety/depression before it can steal your joy. I cook healthy healing meals and snacks, I help keep up the house and help with siblings. I help with lactation issues and milk supply. Mommas dont just need help during the day, I also do postpartum overnights so everyone can get some sleep. Traumatic birth? I specialize in helping momma’s recover from traumatic births emotionally and physically.

I also work with mommas who don't breast feed that are struggling with feeding issues.
MWA: Midwife Assistant, I assist the midwife with the medical side of birth during home births
Trainer and Mentor for new doulas
Hello, My name is Megan, I am a certified doula and this is my story of service. On a healing women's retreat in the mountains of Colorado, I was called by my Heavenly Father to serve my sisters during birth and pray over their babies. I was called to be a doula, specifically, a doula that prays and empowers momma in the birth suite in hospitals, in homes and in birthing centers. I don't speak for mommas, I give them a voice, I give them knowledge and understanding to choose, I advocate for their choices which gives them confidence to stand up for what they feel is right for them and their baby in a home or a hospital setting.
Every momma has the right to choose how they want to give birth, and with all of the different opinions from strangers on social media, to the government, mommas have more information at hand and less ability to discern fact from fiction. They find themself trying to choose a side of natural vs medicated, home vs hospital, interventions vs no interventions, but there are no sides to choose, it's your birth, it's your choice. I am an Evidence Based Doula who believes that prayer is essential during birth along with practice of educating mommas with evidence based information allowing HER to choose the best birth option for her and her baby.
A home birth is an amazing spiritual experience, watching a woman bring forth life on her terms is a strength that amazes me each time I am blessed to witness it, but it is not for everyone. The feeling of safety for some mommas comes at hospital birth, it is equally spiritual and amazing with or without an epidural. I use TENS units with unmedicated births and I am certified as an Epidural Doula, I help mommas physically participate in their birth when they are in bed with an epidural. Having a doula is not just about supporting a vaginal birth. If a planned or unplanned c-section is necessary, I am right by your side making sure there is still skin to skin with the baby, first latch help and delayed cord cutting. Educating momma is key during a c-section along with my presence to decrease fear.
Interventions, when used properly save lives, no momma should ever be made to feel they are less than others because they chose an epidural or pain medication during labor and no momma should be made to feel like they are an irresponsible parent for choosing a home birth or a vbac. Your birth is the perfect birth for you and your baby, even if the plan changes. As your doula I will be your advocate, your protector, your educator, your prayer warrior and your friend, and I will uplift you and always remind you that what you are doing...making new life is a sign that.."God is within her she shall not fail" psalms 46:5
What is a postpartum doula you ask??? Let me explain, she shows up like Mary Poppins during a storm, but instead of carpet bag of tricks, she is an instapot carrying, healing food expert, night time cooking, kitchen cleaning, laundry folding, floor sweeping, bed propping, snack giving, hydration enforcing, baby burping, diaper changing, toddler feeding, bread baking, soup cooking, momma loving, emotion calming, postpartum depression easing, partner relieving, advice giving, baby poop analyzing, lactation supporting, formula advising, bottle feeding, newborn expert, non-judgmental, praying, rest enforcing giver of sleep whose main goal in life is to love, care and pray for newborn mommas so they can be the best momma possible. She shows up at 6AM or 10PM, she stays for4 hours, 12 hours or even 24hours, she helps your most tender parts feel better, tell you what an amazing job your doing even when they dont feel it, she lets momma cry for no reason, understands the fears, anxiety, and tells momma and her partner…” Don't worry about anything sweet momma, I am here! Your job now is to rest and heal!”
